How fierce is this bag? I think my favorite designer herself would say this is slightly Betsey Johnson-esk.
I started with a denim skirt from a thrift shop. The quilted leopard print flap is made from a thrift shop skirt. Leftover floral fabric made a pretty liner and pockets. I added chain handles from a craft store. The hardest part of this bag was sewing over the bulky denim at the top.
Money Spent: $12
Turn the skirt inside out and sew across the bottom.
Cut a square or rectangle piece of fabric for the flap. Quilt by using a fabric marker and ruler to draw lines 1" apart and sew.
Cut two pieces of liner fabric. Leave 1" extra on the top so you can fold it under and hide the raw edges. Sew the printed sides together on three sides, leaving the top open. Pin the flap piece to the inside back of the bag so it's hanging out of the bag. Insert the liner and fold under the raw edge and sew all around the top of the bag.
Add chain handles through the belt loops of the skirt. I added the extra glitz with a gold key chain with my name on it.
What do you think? Am I a Betsey prodigy? I was a gymnast. I can still do cartwheels and splits like Betsey!
Thank you for stopping by and sew on!
