Who doesn't need more storage space? I needed book shelves, bad. I had all these drawers leftover from my Dressing Room post, so I stacked them on top of each other! I unified the drawers and made them look more like actual shelves by painting them all black with leftover paint.
Sometimes I find it hard to decorate a cohesive space that represents both my boyfriend's style as well as mine. This is it. Perfectly. Bright colors, a mix of our art and accessories all pop with a light blue neutral as the background. Tons of storage- see my giant tub of fabric?! Never enough craft storage!
I bought these plastic letters off eBay a few years ago. They were red and spelled "CINEMA". At the time we had a movie theater themed living room. Makes sense now, right? I've played with the letters for months now, spelling new words. I have fallen in love with my newest phrase, "WE CAN". For half a second it was, "ME CAN". Then, I realized I could flip the "M" over. I spray painted them orange to go with my new theme.
This day of the dead holographic poster was a gift from a friend. I based my entire design off this poster. I love the bright, fun colors and I love anything with skulls. My friend must know me well.
I spray painted the big frame gold. Everything is better in gold. (I have a future project planned for the picture that once lived inside this frame, so stay tuned!)
This banana fabric is fantastic, isn't it? I found it at a thrift store! I found a whole pile of bright, fun fabrics. I put them all in this wire trash bin from the dollar store.
This is an easy tip. Spray paint your ceramics white. This pitcher and bowl were a mix match, Mexican motif. I unified them by spraying them white. Now they can work in any room and any color scheme.
Ok....I think you get it, I spray paint everything. Spray paint is the cheapest and easiest DIY. I should own stock in spray paint, especially gold.
I found this great candle stick at a thrift store. It is a SERIOUS candle stick. The kind you'd think would be in the game, Clue. Killer candle stick. I used it for a while as it was, but soon it got the 'Kara do-over' in gold. I love it more now. Obviously.
The ornate mirror was less than $10 at Wal-Mart. The amazing art piece was a gift from a friend. The colors are great and the monster-ish subject is funky and interesting. The clock is cool, right? It looks like it's melting over my Harry Potter collection. Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
I've always loved cowhide. My teenage bedroom actually looked very similar to this now that I'm thinking about it. I even used to have a black and white cow rug I made out of faux fur fabric and carpet backing from Jo-ann's!
I think this library area came out really cool! Funky and bright. Eclectic and kinda weird. I LOVE IT!
What do you think?
Hey! You'll love these too!
