I feel like I have a pile of cabinet doors. I guess I do. I stare at them all the time trying to think of new things to do with them. Once, I even took two old cabinet doors and put them up as window shutters. They worked well until the dog pushed his head through them. Lesson learned: keep window areas clear. Anything in front of windows at our house is at risk of being destroyed.
For this cabinet door project I decided I wanted them to be like large frames. I wanted to attach and change photos quickly and easily. I came up with a giant clipboard idea. I picked up the clip at Wal-mart and attached it to the frame with a screw and washer.
The light blue semi-gloss paint was a "second" at Wal-Mart, meaning it was tinted wrong or someone didn't end up liking it, so they resell them for cheap. This can was less than $5! I picked up the wooden letters and numbers at Wal-Mart too. I spray painted them with leftover spray paint I had.
I thought for days about what to put between our initials. I tried finding a wooden "+" sign at craft stores, but I had no luck. I thought something metal or industrial would be cool, but found nothing. So, I had to free hand draw, which I really hate. I am crafty and creative, but not artistic. Simple drawing is best. Thank goodness a heart is relatively easy. If you can get both sides to match! Ugh....
Ick...we are sickeningly adorable, huh?
I'll hang....er...well, maybe my boyfriend will help me hang this one outside our front door in the spring. I love how this looks. Simple, crafty, kind-of elegant with the inset detail. Doesn't look like an old kitchen cabinet door anymore!
Thank you for checking out this post!
Until next time,
Hey! You'll love these too!
