It's been AWHILE since I made a homemade gift! My BF and I don't really exchange gifts. We live the, "if I want something I buy it myself", mentality. So, holidays and birthdays are usually a time we cook favorite meals or simply say, "I love you. I appreciate you in my life." Or something equally gagable ;)
I don't know what hit me (cupid?), but I decided to make my BF a family tree for Valentine's Day. I came across this one below and used it as my inspiration.
I used to like this framed primitive country image, but I've decided to purge OR CHANGE things in my life that are no longer serving me. This adorable little house does not serve me; doesn't make me smile, I don't LOVE it. So, goodbye blah image....
I google searched "black and white tree clip art" to find this tree image...
The original Pinterest version looked like love letters. So, I made a copy of some old love notes and layered the tree on top and cut out both.
You can discard the original tree. You just want the love letter tree.
Run a sharpie around the edge to help highlight the tree once it's on your canvas.
Ok, funny story before I wrap this up....
When Tylan opened this on V-Day, the heart with MY name on it had fallen off. So, it looked like I had made him a family tree with only him and Tilly. Like, "Happy Valentine's Day! I'm leaving you." The confused look on his face was hilarious! BAHAHAHAHA! LOL! Poor guy...
I hope you enjoyed this Pinterest hack!

I'm always organizing and reorganizing my house. During my cleaning frenzy, I found this old magazine holder thing. Now, I KNOW I've seen this on Pinterest. Since magazines are basically obsolete, this thing is ready for a new life....

For someone who doesn't celebrate Valentine's Day, why was it so much fun to change over my Christmas decor? Oh yeah, because I have a daughter and I'm living out all of my girly-est decor dreams through her.... AND I got a new, kick-a$$ candelabra for Christmas and I had to design a space around such gorgeous-ness and share it with you!
BELOW: Before I painted the drawer-shelves and covered the speaker in peel and stick wallpaper. This is how the madness begins....
I switched out the rugs from Tilly's bedroom and the living room. Definitely the right choice. The grey rug was meant to be in the living room and the pink one meant for Tilly's room. I just hope a pit doesn't puke on this gorgeous rug! Eeek!
There are pros and cons to living with a hoarder, errr, "collector". In this case, a pro, the fence surrounding the wood stove. I said, "We need something like a fence around this whole area to keep Tilly out." Fence delivered. No problem. Baby safety has never looked so chic!

OMG! Can you even stand how friggin cute this is?! I chose a, mostly, pink and white color scheme for this space. It's a kid's space, but it's also in the corner of our living room. So, I wanted to be able to tuck away the majority of toys easily. Considering she has a whole other separate playroom, I figure I can be a clean and tidy freak about this area.
The dogs decided the footstool turned toy box was really a window seat for them ;)
I blew this adorable glass tea light at a glass blowing lesson with my aunt! And the vase is a Pinterest/ dollar store hack. I filled a vase (maybe it's a tall cup, because I found it in the dish aisle of the dollar store, idk) with sweat tarts and added faux flowers. The cuteness is rotting my teeth ;)
TOY CORNER DETAILS:
My theme with the rest of the room was red and black with leopard accent. Before I even started decorating, I rounded up all the heart shaped and red colored accessories I could find. With my 3 tiered kitchen tray, I found a small heart shaped basket and a heart shaped cookie cutter! You see the back of a red dollar store teddy bear who happens to be missing his eyes thanks to a pit-bull I know ;) My counter runner is really two overlapping scarves; one leopard, one red fleece. I actually have an ANCIENT tutorial for that GUMBALL MACHINE!
My whole idea was to reuse as MUCH as possible from my Christmas decor. I used the round branch wreath on my barn fence at Christmas time. I knew I wanted to use it as the 'O' of 'XO' for my Valentine's day decor.
I bought the lips pillow off eBay for $8. It's a cute idea, for sure! Not good quality though :( The lips aren't fully screen printed on as you can see.
Thanks for visiting and checking out my decor! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's day and wonderful February in general (since I supposedly don't celebrate Valentine's day) <3 ;)

It's that time of year AGAIN! Ugh. My goal for the holiday season is always to spread that FEELING of Christmas. Growing up, my favorite part was the décor. I felt like the décor set the MOOD for Christmas; the lights, the tree, the fireplace, the cookies set out on the counter in the kitchen! No matter the season, you can create the feeling you desire in your home with just your décor!
Guys! How cute is my tree topper?! I can't even believe Tilly WORE this tiny hat last Christmas! OMG! Cue the mommy tears....
I'm all about the budget decor y'all! This light bulb ornament is LIFE! ....and so easy to make!
Want a warm magical feel this holiday? Netflix or YouTube "fireplace" onto your TV. Insta holiday magic!
I adore this kitchen Santa! He's a cooking Santa! I don't think he gets better than this!
However, the look on his face. LOL!
I am LOVING my sectional area! I really enjoy changing up the décor for each season and holiday!
I have been seeing these super simple brown paper scrolls EVERYWHERE! As with everything, I was like, "I can make that!" So, I did.
See how I made the scroll....
I did the tiniest bit of decorating in Tilly's room. I added a string of lights and the stocking and cap Meme got her last Christmas :) Voila!
I hope your holiday season is nothing less than magical!
Until next time,

"Fall is my favorite", says everyone posing on a mountain top during peak foliage....
But really, it's my favorite ;)
We hiked the easiest and shortest Vermont hike ever. Owls Head in Peacham. Four minutes from the parking area to the top. Perfect for this postpartum mother, who hasn't exercised or left the house if not absolutely necessary in a year and nine months.
Tilly and I did get out and about at our local walking path for some leaf-peeping....
I talked on Instagram about my attempt at making dilly-beans. At first, I couldn't find fresh dill; I checked all the local grocery stores. Come to find out, dill is sold in plastic packaging, like, cherry tomatoes or something. I was looking for a bundle of dill. My local grocery store sells parsley, cilantro, mint, basil, thyme, etc... in bundles in the produce aisle. How is it not confusing to anyone else that dill is sold in a plastic container near the lettuce, not near any of those other herbs?? WTF?
So, you know what I did then? I bought my own friggin dill plant! .....and it died a week later.
As usual, I went overboard with the faux flowers and color scheme in my decor....
The DIY Sectional Sofa got a fall makeover!
I couldn't leave the fireplace out of the tacky faux-flower-fun. (say that 5 times fast. LOL!)
Side note: Am I reminding anyone else of the old lady with all the cats and dusty sun-bleached faux flowers???
Yeah, me neither ;)
The dilly-beans were a total fail, by the way. No bite to them at all. Was I supposed to blanch them first? Were they grown too long? The beans inside were completely formed :(
Anyway, until next time.

You might need a new couch if:
Our two previous sofas were hand-me-downs from family. The larger of the two was viciously attacked by LuLu, our pit-bull, while I was in the hospital for 8 days having Tilly. I strategically covered all damage with blankets and throw pillows. LOL! Like, literally stuffed stuffing back in, and where it was lacking, I rolled up a towel or blanket!
For years, we've been dreaming of trading our old couches for a new sectional sofa. No matter where I looked, online or in stores, the sectional that we wanted couldn't be found for less than $1000. Which is just crazy! I couldn't even find a used sectional (in decent shape) for that price!
Out with the old, in with the, uh, new to us. Just our luck, my family was getting rid of 2 twin beds with box springs! Teenagers these days require full and queen size beds dontcha know!
We placed them in our living room in an 'L' shape, just as a sectional sofa would be. The mattress/ box spring combo was just a bit lower than we hoped and the mattress' were definitely well worn in. I bought 2 mattress toppers for each bed to add comfort and more height.
Bed skirts and fitted sheets make these beds look more couch-like.
Pillows GALORE! The placement of the pillows really make this feel like a GIANT sectional!
(It's kinda hard to tell, but Tylan is feeding Tilly with a sippy cup in this picture :)
Now listen, if we had stopped the project at this point, this would be a $200 sectional couch!
Of course I did NOT stop there....
The biggest problem with this couch is the gap where the two beds meet. I think I'll keep a blanket draped in that area to stealthily camouflage the gap. Like this....
I bought matching grey bedspreads for both beds to give a more cohesive look ($60 for 3). I wrapped the excess bedspread material under the back side of the mattress'. That seems to keep things from moving too much. You know how dogs dig, right? My pits haven't dug these up yet.
I had to give up an arm and a leg for a few 27" by 27" pillows ($120). They really give it the, 'couch' feel though. I bought an extra bedspread to cut up and make pillow covers out of.
Total Couch Cost: approx. $400
GET THE look!
Chandelier- Big Lots (Bought years ago! It was an outdoor light I stripped the sparkle part from. The sparkle part is just sitting over top of the lampshade.)
Pillow Forms- JoAnn Fabric's (I used coupons to get them for $20 each)
Faux Fur Throws- TJMaxx
Grey Quilted Bedspreads- Walmart
Canvas Farm Prints- The Christmas Tree Shop
Floral Pillowcase- Fabric from JoAnn's (I made that pillowcase in High School!)
Heart/ LOVE Throw Pillow- Walmart
Grey Knit Nubby Throw Pillow- TJMaxx
I will never buy another couch again! Twin beds are where it's at! I hope our new couch gave you some ideas for your living room!
I'm super happy with the way it turned out. I don't actually think this couch is done yet. I have a few more tweaks I want to make. A few more pillow covers to sew. So, stay tuned for Part 2!
Until next time....
